How long does lip filler swelling last?

What the first few days can look like, when to judge the shape and which changes need immediate help.

Why the first photos can look different

The lips can swell unevenly and look fuller than you expected for the first day or two. A photograph in indirect daylight can be more useful for comparison than one taken immediately after your appointment.

Look at how things are changing

A gradual reduction in discomfort and swelling over the following days is reassuring. Allow around two weeks before judging the settled shape. Ask the clinic to assess a firm area or unevenness that persists after swelling has settled.

When to ask for help

Unusual or increasing pain or pale, grey or mottled skin needs urgent assessment. Call the clinic immediately. For a sudden vision change or stroke symptoms, call 999.
