Skin treatments
Microneedling
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Maya assesses your skin, concerns and healing history before discussing whether it is appropriate for uneven texture or selected scars.
The appointment
What to expect
Before treatment
Tell Maya about active breakouts, skin infections, cold sores, scarring, skin sensitivity and any prescribed or active skincare. She’ll explain when to pause products if needed.
Recovery and results
Redness or colour change, mild swelling and sensitivity can follow treatment. Recovery varies with your skin and treatment depth. Discuss the likely number of sessions and the risk of pigment changes before proceeding.
Recovery
Microneedling aftercare
Follow the personal instructions you receive. Contact the clinic if your recovery differs from what you were told to expect.
First 24 hours
Keep your hands off the area as much as possible and use only the aftercare products you were advised to use. Wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup and longer if your skin is still irritated or you were advised to wait.
First few days
Redness or sensitivity should ease. Skip scrubs, retinoids and exfoliating acids until the skin has recovered and your practitioner confirms when you can restart. Follow the plan for sun protection while the skin heals.
When to contact the clinic
Contact the clinic or seek same-day medical advice if redness, warmth, pain or swelling is getting worse, or if you develop pus, fever or blistering.
