When can I restart my skincare after a skin treatment?

Ask for product-specific instructions for makeup, exfoliants, retinoids and sunscreen before leaving the clinic.

Write down your evening and morning routine

Include cleanser, sunscreen, makeup and any active or prescription products. Ask the clinic to mark which products can be used first and which should wait, based on the treatment you have had.

Ask for a plan for the first few days

Instructions vary with the procedure and how your skin responds. Ask what to use if your skin feels dry and how to protect the area from the sun. Check with your prescriber before changing any prescribed product.

Know who to contact if you are unsure

Keep the aftercare instructions somewhere you can easily find them. If you are still uncomfortable at the point you were told you could resume a product, ask your clinic before restarting it.
