Skin treatments
Chemical peels
Maya reviews your skin tone, sensitivity and routine before discussing a peel. The choice and strength depend on the concern, your history of pigmentation and how much downtime you can accommodate.
The appointment
What to expect
Before your appointment
Tell Maya about recent sun exposure, cold sores, previous peels, dark marks after irritation and any prescription creams or active ingredients. Ask which products to pause before treatment.
What recovery looks like
Tightness, dryness and flaking vary with the peel. Some people see little visible peeling. Ask about recovery time and the risk of persistent dark or light marks for your skin.
Recovery
Chemical peels aftercare
Follow the personal instructions you receive. Contact the clinic if your recovery differs from what you were told to expect.
First few days
Use the cleanser and moisturiser advised for your peel. Let flakes come away naturally. Avoid picking, scrubbing or using acids and retinoids until your skin has healed and you’re advised to restart.
Sun protection and makeup
Limit direct sun exposure while healing and follow the sunscreen plan for your peel. Ask when makeup is appropriate because healing time varies with peel depth.
When to contact the clinic
Get same-day advice for increasing pain, unexpected blistering, weeping, spreading redness or warmth, or fever.
